Hi, I’m Amy — a travel lover, full-time worker, and firm believer that life is for living.
When I turned 40, I set myself a big challenge: to visit a new country every month that year. I wanted to make the most of my annual leave, explore new places, and see how far I could go with just a bit of planning and curiosity. But not long after setting that goal, life had other plans and I was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Thankfully, I caught it early. Over the next seven months, I went through a lumpectomy, two more surgeries to get clear margins, and 15 sessions of radiotherapy. It was tough, but I refused to let cancer stop me from doing what I love most — travelling. Between treatments and recovery, I still managed to tick off new countries, and eventually, I got to ring the bell after finishing treatment. That moment meant everything.
The whole experience really changed how I look at life. It reminded me that time is precious, and you don’t need weeks off or a huge budget to explore somewhere new. Sometimes the best adventures are the ones you squeeze in over a weekend or even a single night away.
Amy Around the World is my space to share how I make that happen — with honest stories, short-trip itineraries, travel hacks, and a little encouragement to just go for it. Because if I’ve learned anything, it’s that you don’t have to wait for the “perfect time” to see the world.
Life is short, the world is wide, and your next adventure could be just a weekend away.
